I would be very interested in expanding the reputation system to support external sources, so you could (for example) write a bridge from Bugzilla/Jira/etc, have database table that tracks the number of bugs you create or comment on over time (as you have one for QA posts/comments over time).
You could then factor external activity (activity on your site, but not just QA activity) into the reputation calculation, and award badges based on it. Again for example, someone who creates 100 bugs could earn the Bug Master badge.
Is this likely to be easy to build into OSQA?

Hey crb, that is an awesome idea, and certainly possible to do.
However we have frozen feature requests for the 0.6 version which we'll be launching next week, and 0.7 will be all about adding "social dimension" to OSQA and I don't really know if this feature fits there. But is a nice idea for a module and that can be done any time. We also have to create some documentation on that so that external coders can start creating their modules.
But we'll certainly discuss this idea :-)
